If you’ve not yet heard of Ten Thousand Villages, I’m happy to share it with you today. This fair trade company, founded 60 years ago, carries handmade jewelry, linens, art, toys and food from around the world. Its mission is to create opportunities for artisans in to earn a fair wage by bringing their stories and products to our markets through fair trading relationships.
Company stores opened in 1997 and in the years 2008-2010, Ten Thousand Villages was named one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by the Ethisphere Institute and Forbes Magazine.
