Fashion: Clare Distenfeld’s Fivestory in Manhattan

I read about luxury boutique Fivestory in Elle Decor‘s October issue, and I was enticed to browse through its online collection. Fivestory, owned by Clare Distenfeld, is located on Manhattan’s upper east side and it caters to those looking for diverse high-end  brands including Roland Mouret, Alexander Wang, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Rosie Assoulin.

Before I share some of the shop’s collection, let’s just have a quick look at the sleek interior of the 5-story (get it?) townhouse.

The Friday Five: Animal Kingdom

I have featured my growing menagerie around my home here on the blog over the last few years. While I haven’t added any new pieces to my collection recently, I do still keep my eye out for interesting items.

Art: Black and White Photography

I’ve been spending loads of time staring at black and white photographs online lately. Maybe I’m secretly itching to switch up some of the art around my home. Or maybe I just love browsing art collections. Either way, I’m happy to share some of my favourites with you.

Flowers: The Anemone

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up some bunches of anemone flowers at the St. Jacobs Market. They were just gorgeous, and they lasted just about a week. I think they would have lasted longer had I changed the water a bit more regularly.

A week later, Tim picked up some, too. Don’t they look pretty in his photo?

I love the curvy stems, and I love the stark contrast between the white petals and black (or is it very dark purple or dark navy?) centre. The anemone is such an interesting bloom, and I don’t see it too often, which makes me love it even more!

I think white anemones looks absolutely gorgeous on their own, but adding simple greenery around them also works beautifully.

This arrangement from Sullivan Owen is spectacular in my opinion. I adore the inclusion of the roses and seeded eucalyptus.

So, what do you think of the anemone flower? Is it a keeper in your eyes?

20 Below: A Tray from Zara Home

If you are a fan of clean design, you likely have a tray or two around your home to corral small items such as oil and vinegar, makeup, or trinkets by the bed. A tray instantly adds order to a sideboard, counter, or coffee table, and I’m certainly a fan.

This white tray from Zara Home caught my eye today.
