The Friday Five: Studio Luna at Waterworks

I’ve been looking at bathroom accessories this week – not really sure why as I don’t need any – and the Luna line from Waterworks has really caught my eye. I love the polished marble and the simple lines. It’s such a classic and timeless design, don’t you think?

Art: Cathy Daley

When I was at Art Toronto earlier this fall I was really  drawn to the work of Toronto-based artist Cathy Daley. Through her drawings, Cathy explores cultural representations of the feminine and the body. I like how these black and white pastel pieces are full of movement.

The Friday Five: Artistry Cards

Eco-friendly stationery company Artistry Cards is ready for the holidays with its selection of toque-toting birds. Aren’t they sweet?

You may have already gathered that Artistry Cards is a Canadian company. I mean, I used the word “toque”. Does anyone else in the world use that word? (It means winter hat in case you were wondering.)

Great news – Artistry Cards is offering White Cabana readers a 10% discount on all products. Enter ARTIST (all caps) at checkout. Click here to start shopping. (Discount is valid until December 15th.)

Event: Art Toronto 2011

I was lucky enough to spend yesterday afternoon surrounded by incredible and varied art work at Art Toronto.

If you’re in Toronto and looking for a great way to spend an hour (or many as I did!) I highly recommend a visit to this international art fair as you are sure to be amazed and inspired.

There is so much to see and a lot to take in and this week on White Cabana I will be sharing with you some of the art that really caught my attention. For now, I’ll just let you know that I was especially amused by Kent Monkman‘s The Art Game – an interactive “funhouse” at this year’s show.

The event is at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and runs until October 31st. For more information click here.

A few weeks ago I got the chance to finally – yes, finally – visit inVU Drapery Co. in person. This company has been good to us here at White Cabana (remember this giveaway) so I feel a bit ashamed that I hadn’t visited one of their stores. Well, I’m happy to report that it didn’t disappoint.

In addition to the colourful Cobi Ladner line, and a great selection of fabrics in various textures and colours, inVU Drapery Co. carries wonderful white fabrics and curious, quirky and classic accessories for the home. Here are some photos from my visit.

Canadian Design Bloggers Celebrate

Canadian design bloggers have really got it going on!

Last weekend I had the pleasure to meet and mingle with an amazing group of design bloggers at the Canadian design bloggers meetup held at Brassaii in Toronto. Vitania of Verdigris Vie & Daniella of Dress Design Decor organized a most beautiful event with the help of generous sponsors (IKEA, Delta, CIL, as well as House & Home, Crate & Barrel, Style at Home, Kravet, and Rowenta). The party was full of style.

The very stylish Tommy Smythe shared some photos and stories from his recent trip to Scandinavia and kept the crowd laughing (photos here).

IKEA + prosecco = two of my favourite things

The event was beautifully organized, very well-attended, and it was an inspiring evening to say the least. I’m already looking forward to the next meetup – as I know many of the bloggers I met are too!
