I never tire of marble. Do you? Hope not!
When I said scallops, I wasn’t referring to the seafood, I was talking about the shape.
Today I’m bringing you stripes for your patio and wardrobe.

It’s peony season! If you follow designers, bloggers, and floral enthusiasts on Instagram or elsewhere, you’ll likely see a peony-infusion in your feeds. My mom brought me the first two cuttings from her garden over the weekend, and the blooms are just so pretty. I saved my readers from multiple photos this time, but I can’t promise that I’ll be stopping with this one!

Last month, I bought these Cole Haan sneakers, and I’ve been wearing them almost daily (not in the rain!) since I bought them. They are so comfortable! These white ones are probably just as comfortable, and have their own distinct, classic Cole-Haan, basketweave pattern.

We’ve had so much rain these last few days, and my umbrella is working overtime. So, today’s post is inspired by the weather.

By now, many have you have heard that Jenna Lyons – J.Crew’s creative director – is on her way out after working with the brand for 26 years! I really like so many of J.Crew’s designs, but the prices are high for just-okay quality. I don’t buy anything at J.Crew unless it’s on sale from the store or the factory store. What about you?
These two lady jackets though – I want them both!
polka dot tweed jacket, $220 CAD

The anemone is one of the prettiest flowers. They haven’t yet made an appearance at the market, but once they do, you know I’ll be picking some up. They’re lovely, don’t you agree?

Do you have any zebra print in your home? I don’t, but it seems like of all the animal prints that I could have, this would be it, right? I wouldn’t be ready to install Scalamandre‘s zebra print wallpaper anytime soon, but a zebra print in smaller doses could easily find its way into my home.

I know I’m not the only one around here who loves a good bow. Am I right? Look at these fancy mules from Winners (selection varies by store, of course) and the Vera Wang dinner plate. A perfect pair!

I’ve been taking part in Apartment Therapy’s January Cure clean-up and organization challenge on a sort of regular basis this month. Buying flowers was easy, cleaning the fridge was completely satisfying, and donating boxes of extras was freeing. While I haven’t been able to keep up with the daily tasks, I think Apartment Therapy’s month of chores is well-planned and well-organized. It’s a good way to kick start the year!
So this brings me to the idea of organization. Check out these two pantries. Aren’t they beautiful? Yes, a beautiful storage area for food. That’s luxury!

Today, I’m bringing you a high/low match striker pair. Guess before you scroll all the way down!

I don’t think I have ever decorated a gingerbread house. It wasn’t a yearly tradition in my family’s home, so if I did, it must have only happened rarely. These days, however, it seems like a lot of families make time to make and decorate sweet houses. Some are really elaborate and beautiful like the two in today’s two-of-a-kind.

My family has never been an all-out-for-Halloween-decorations type of family. Growing up, we always had a couple of pumpkins to carve (usually one for me and one for my sister). A couple of times, we created scarecrows for the front yard. That’s about it. Halloween decor doesn’t quite do it for me, and while there are incredible ways to cover up the orange, I’m still not motivated to do much more than carve a pumpkin in terms of decor (for Halloween or fall, actually).
That said, two photos on Instagram recently caught my attention. They veer toward the Halloween Chic category (I’ve stolen the term from my sister…not sure if others use it).
The first floral pumpkin from Sarah Gunn is simple but dramatic. I just could not stop staring at it when I first saw it on her Instagram feed.

The second googly-eyed pumpkin (see it there in the corner) by Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day is part of a googly-eyed theme I can handle. Honestly, I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. So funny! (I saw large, sticky googly eyes at Dollarama last week in case you’re looking for them.)

If I ever throw a Halloween party, one of these two options may very likely be the decor.
It’s only a couple of weeks until Halloween, which is about the time that I’m ready to start thinking about it. Today’s two-of-a-kind has a Halloween flavour to it.

I’ll never tire of white kitchens. I’ve been blogging for 6+ years, and during this time, I’ve featured numerous white kitchens. They’re still my favourite when it comes to kitchen design.

By now you may know that I adore Calgary-based blogger Erica Cook‘s style. It’s her recent kitchen sneak peek that has inspired today’s marble-clad post.

I picked up a pair of Converse while I was in Florida last month as my black ones got too worn out and needed to be replaced. I opted for an off-white dainty Chuck Taylor, and they’re working out well so far. They’re great to slip-on for a bike ride, or a walk around town. The slimmer version also means they’re lighter than the original Chuck Taylor’s, and I think that they’ll be a nice change from my last pair of laceless slip-ons.
All this to say that my new kicks have inspired today’s two-of-a-kind post.

And here’s a bonus room that includes the white backdrop and red piping details:
Let’s go for sparkles today! How about that?
I’m excited about today’s twosome. It’s all about Gwen Stefani today because I’m going to see her in concert! Woohoo! I’ve been a fan of Gwen Stefani since the days of No Doubt, and I’m really looking forward to swinging along (really poorly) with her in Tampa soon enough.
I’ll be wearing my Gwen Stefani (via L.A.M.B.) x Le Sportsac purse for nostalgia. I was so excited to buy this purse at Century21 in downtown Manhattan on one of my very first trips there years and years ago. I wore this purse so darn much, and I was in love with the L.A.M.B. purse charm attached. Good memories with this one.
And here’s Gwen. My sister almost convinced me to bleach my hair blond like Gwen one year. Almost. I was never courageous enough.

How many times have I featured polka dots on White Cabana? Too many times to count, I’m sure! I just love the happy pattern, and I can see many polka-dotted posts in the future. I hope you don’t mind!
Here are today’s two-of-a-kind.

Hello again dear readers! Welcome back! I hope you didn’t mind the break. I meant to come back to the blog yesterday and share news about Copenhagen, but I was having issues with my photos, so my posts remain in draft form at the moment. They’re not quite ready to be published. Thanks in advance for your patience and I battle jet-lag and get my life reorganized after by 2+ week holiday. (Tough life, I know.)
For today, since it’s Tuesday, I’ll share two they’re-so-much-alike items. And since it’s summer (my favourite season), and the beach is nearly always on my mind, I thought I’d bring some scallops to the web pages of White Cabana.
scalloped linen blouse, $55 (first spotted on The Neo Trad)

Which one do you like better? Which one would you buy?
Today’s two for Tuesday is extra special because it’s my dad’s birthday! This styling man…
has gone from hiking in suits in Italy as a teenager to…
hanging out in baseball-style tees in Toronto and texting local and international family and friends on his iPhone.
And he’s the most photogenic out of anyone in our family.
Seriously.
My Dad continues to have bursts of energy (in between resting, of course) and has helped me with countless reno projects at my home…you’ve surely seen shout-outs in these posts! Soon we’ll be off to Italy on our father-daughter trip of 2016. Bring on the gelato (you’re paying, right, Dad?)!
Happy Birthday, Dad!
This Jenny Bird necklace available at Chapters-Indigo has inspired today’s two-for-Tuesday feature.
What’s prettier or more feminine than ruffles? Okay, maybe hearts and bows, but ruffles are still at the top of the femininity list, right? They’re great for your wardrobe and your home as you can see by today’s two-for-Tuesday.

Did everyone have a nice long weekend? I just ended a glorious 5-day weekend! It started with a surprise snow day on Thursday (say what!?), which meant that (basically) the Waterloo region shut down. We had a crazy ice storm, and I was happy to get some random, minor projects done around my home and then embrace my lazy side.
Friday, my new bed arrived (oh my goodness – it’s so. darn. glorious.). I’ll share photos in the months ahead once I (finally) buy a new mattress (any suggestions?), upgrade my nightstands, and buy the perfect bedside lamps. This is the Year of My Bed, and this makes me happy!
Saturday and Sunday was family time…which involved a lot of food and loud discussions.
I took Monday off, too, and with the weather so dreary, I was in the mood for a few errands and a lot of nothing.
And this brings us to Tuesday…time for a two-for-Tuesday comparison! Today it’s all about texture!

I can’t seem to get enough of polka dots or stripes these days. I find that I’m drawn to them in both fashion and design, so it’s not so surprising that I’m bringing polka dots to the blog in today’s Two for Tuesday.
