The Friday Five: Zara Kids

My nephews are in Toronto so I’m heading over to spend the weekend with them at my parents’ place (after Fashion Week, that is). So excited! In honour of my nephews’ Canadian vacation, I thought I would do a kid-related Friday Five featuring white clothes from Zara. (Yes, I know, some of you may believe that white clothes and kids don’t really mix. Well, who cares, I say. The kids are going to get dirty no matter what colour of clothes they wear so why not dress them in white?)

cable knit sweater, $29.90

mao collar shirt, $19 90 USD

“boy” plush sweater, $25.90

reversible quilted jacket, $29.90

baby patent high top sneaker, $35.90

Photography: Istanbul by Joel Lopata

Photographer (and PhD friend of mine) Joel Lopata‘s recent snapshots of Istanbul are so striking that it might just be time for me to add another location to my travel wish list.

Although Joel’s travel photos are my personal favourites, his live music photos and wedding photos are also quite incredible. Have a peek into his portfolio here.

A head start on Halloween

Okay, so I just can’t resist featuring a few Halloween things event though we’re 12 days away from the big scary night.

(I’m telling myself that you’ll need today’s cookie cutters ahead of time in order to arrive on the scene armed with themed treats.)

Behold- Halloween-shaped cookie cutters ($2.50 – $3.95 at Crate & Barrel), a fun spatula ($9.95), and a really tempting recipe for lemon and rosemary shortbread cookies (to bake with your new cutters!).

And, for the record, I haven’t tried this recipe (yet) but my default amazing go-to recipe for rosemary shortbread is here (I’m thinking that I may just add a few spoonfuls of lemon zest to my tried & true):
