Hotel to Home: Ocean House, Rhode Island

I think I have wanted to stay at every single hotel I have featured in this Hotel to Home series. And today’s hotel is no exception. The Ocean House in Rhode island is a gorgeous Relais & Chateaux property with spectacular ocean views.

Each room is pretty, but it’s this Beach Rose Suite that caught my attention because of its kitchen. I haven’t yet featured a kitchen in this series, so here we go!

And here’s my take on this very classic kitchen style:

Hotel to Home: Casa Angelina, Amalfi, Italy

Would you come to the Amalfi Coast with me today? I barely had to twist your arm, right?

Casa Angelina is soaked in white and the beach and sea beyond the balcony doors is as beautiful as you might expect.

The low profile platform bed means that no view to the outdoors is obstructed. The inclusion of silver lamps and grey linens breaks up all the white. Below is my redo of the deluxe suite shown above:

Hotel to Home: Macalister Mansion in Malaysia

Let’s jet off to Malaysia today, shall we?

Today, I’m bringing you to the Macalister Mansion in Georgetown, Penang. Condé Nast put this hotel on its 2013 hot list, and it only takes a moment to discover why. This restored colonial mansion (built in the early 1900s) is luxurious and charming. The eight rooms are individually designed and feature beautiful furnishings and art.

Room 6 caught my attention because of the art above the bed. It is a commissioned piece by Indonesian artist Albert Yonathan called “Sailing the Celestial Sea”. Oooh…I love all the “s” sounds in that title! The porcelain ship pieces were hand cast, and the work was inspired by the sea voyages of Sir Norman Macalister who was one of the first British Governors of Penang from 1808-1810 (when Penang was known as Prince of Wales Island).

Hotel to Home: Riad Mena in Marrakesh

Let’s travel to Marrakesh, Morocco today, shall we? The Riad Mena hotel is stunning, and I think it deserves a little White Cabana attention.

The shades of whites and greys with the pop of red really caught my attention.

Hotel to Home: The Serras, Barcelona, Spain

We were in Florida in last week’s Hotel to Home series, but now we’re crossing the Atlantic and heading to Barcelona. The Serras Hotel‘s black and white decor is sharp and graphic, but the injection of wood-framed mirrors and wood side tables add a natural element, which many people appreciate.
